Job Description:
- At Regions, the Regions Business Capital Underwriter is a client-facing role, responsible for conducting and evaluating new corporate and commercial loans.
- Primary Responsibilities
- + Leads the credit process to ensure that transactions are reviewed thoroughly, in a timely manner and that internal policies and procedures are adhered to + Independently conducts an assessment for borrower risk profile, financial performance, collateral strength, industry position and overall credit worthiness + Balances the risk tolerance of business objectives and client acquisition + Works closely with Origination to structure proposed transaction + Screens new opportunities and underwrites asset-based loans, ensuring behaviors drive a positive customer experience + Independently identifies risks and mitigants relevant to transactions and in relation to the size and complexity of the transaction + Leads and owns the underwriting process to ensure expeditious execution of new business transactions in-line with client's expectations and business risk tolerance and guidelines + Acts as the central "hub" with origination and credit risk + Supports strong working relationships with key internal partners + Prepares comprehensive and objective memos and models analyzing historical and projected financial performance, collateral quality, borrowing base structure, industry characteristics, capital structure, and other credit attributes + Presents findings and recommendations to Senior Management and Credit Committee + Engages in loan documentation and closing activities with borrower, counsel and relationship management + Includes direct or indirect supervision and direction of the day-to-day activities of junior professionals This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
- Requirements
- + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field + Nine (9) years underwriting and/or portfolio management experience
- Skills and Competencies
- + Ability to manage execution of multiple complex transactions simultaneously + Ability to openly exchange ideas and opinions, elevate concerns, and follow policies and procedures as defined + Ability to quickly develop working relationships with prospective borrowers and key referral sources (private equity firms, investment banks, bank groups, etc.
