Aug 3, 2026 Job Description School Registered Nurse Atlantic Community School District is seeking a caring, student-centered, and collaborative Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the district School Nurse. The successful candidate will support the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students to help ensure student success and safety in the educational environment. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Iowa Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Previous pediatric, public health, school nursing, or related experience preferred Current CPR and First Aid certification Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with students, staff, families, and community agencies Job Responsibilities Provide direct nursing services and health care support for students and staff Administer medications and maintain accurate health records Develop and monitor individual health plans and emergency care plans Respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies Coordinate and communicate with families, physicians, and outside agencies regarding student health needs Monitor immunization compliance and health screenings Assist with special education and Section 504 health-related accommodations Promote health education and wellness initiatives throughout the district Maintain compliance with state and federal health regulations Participate as a collaborative member of student support and problem-solving teams Expectations Maintain professional and ethical standards consistent with nursing practice Demonstrate compassion, flexibility, and professionalism Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff Support a safe and healthy learning environment for all students Maintain accurate documentation and timely communication Attend required trainings and meetings Application Process Interested applicants should apply through TeachIowa and submit the following: Letter of application Resume Copy of Iowa RN license Credentials and references Questions and application materials may also be directed to: Dr. Beth Johnsen, Superintendent Atlantic Community School District Atlantic, Iowa Applicants should include all registered nurse licensure information with application materials.
