Labor and Delivery Nurse Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse specializing in labor and delivery, you will be responsible for providing care to pregnant women during childbirth and ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby. You will be accountable for monitoring the progress of labor, administering medication, assisting with deliveries, and educating new mothers on postpartum care.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Monitor fetal heart rates and contraction patterns during labor. 2. Administer medications as needed, including pain relief and oxytocin. 3. Assist with vaginal deliveries, c-sections, and other birthing procedures. 4. Provide emotional support and guidance to laboring mothers and their families. 5. Perform postpartum assessments on both mother and baby. 6. Educate new mothers on breastfeeding, caring for newborns, and postpartum recovery. 7. Document patient care in electronic medical records. 8. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as obstetricians and neonatologists.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Valid RN license in the state of practice. 2. BLS and ACLS certification. 3. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. 4. Prior experience in labor and delivery or maternity nursing. 5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 6. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations. 7. Understanding of childbirth processes and complications. 8.
