Job Description

Job Overview Orthopaedic Medical Group of Tampa Bay is a fast-paced and well-established Orthopaedic practice with 9 locations and an ambulatory surgery center. The practice specializes in sports medicine, and surgical and non-surgical treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. We are looking to hire a Bilingual Preferred (Spanish and English) Pre-Admissions Testing Registered Nurse for our surgery center team. Previous PAT experience required. Work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in a non-patient-facing office environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Knowledge:
Must have extensive knowledge of the mission, vision, values, and commitments of the Orthopaedic Medical Group of Tampa Bay. 2.
Education:
Graduate of accredited school of nursing required. RN license is required. BLS certification is required. 3.
Experience:
Pre-admission/Pre-anesthesia testing preferred 4.
Training:
Must complete OMG orientation and training to include: On the job training, compliance, and customer service awareness. Must attend required quarterly meetings with peers and leadership.
JOB SUMMARY
The PAT Registered Nurse acts as patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with members of the health care team at Orthopaedic Medical Group Surgery Center (OMGSC). The PAT nurse works closely with patients and physician's offices obtaining pertinent information to provide safe, quality care to every patient. PAT nurses are usually the patient's first point of contact as they prepare to have surgery, as a result, the expectation is to assist them in understanding the process, answering any questions they may have, and discussing their post-surgical care plan with them. Responsibilities
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES 1.
Contact patients via phone to obtain a full health assessment and medication reconciliation. 2. Manage all pre-anesthesia patient charts by collecting the required documentation including orders, history and physical, any consents, EKG, chest x-ray, and lab results. 3. Flag abnormal test results and patients that exceed or fall below approved anesthesia criteria guidelines. 4. Notify anesthesia and nurse administrator of any patient that does not meet approved anesthesia criteria guidelines and/or has abnormal test results. 5. Educate and counsel patients about their pending surgical procedure(s). 6. Work closely with the Anesthesia Medical Director and surgical services staff to ensure a smooth operative experience for every patient. 7. Maintains up-to-date and accurate patient documentation to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care. 8. Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Pursues professional growth and development. 9. Functions as a role model for current and new staff. 10. Demonstrates leadership behaviors in a professional manner. 11. Performs selected duties as delegated by the Nursing Administrator or others in authority. 12. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. 13. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. 14. Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the center, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
