Job Description

Key Responsibilities Deliver professional nursing care to inmates and patients within a correctional healthcare setting, following evidence-based nursing practices and facility protocols. Perform patient assessments, monitor symptoms and progress, develop and implement care plans, and document all care activities accurately. Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, IV therapy, wound care, dialysis support, oxygen therapy, blood transfusions, catheterization, tube feeding, suctioning, CPR, and other specialized nursing procedures as required. Respond to medical emergencies by providing first aid, coordinating transportation to emergency facilities, and communicating with physicians and healthcare staff as needed. Monitor restrained or isolated patients according to facility guidelines and provide timely medical attention when necessary. Collaborate with physicians, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), healthcare aides, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and treatment plans. Organize and oversee "Code Blue" emergency response activities when assigned. Maintain accurate documentation including medication records, treatment records, incident reports, and inventory logs for controlled substances and medical equipment. Assist with staff orientation, training, scheduling, and reviewing work assignments of lower-level nursing staff when required. Maintain compliance with infection control standards, correctional healthcare policies, and state/federal nursing regulations.
Required Qualifications Licensure/Certification:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
Experience:
Previous nursing experience in correctional healthcare, medical-surgical, mental health, dialysis, long-term care, or acute care settings preferred.
Technical:
Proficiency in patient assessments, medication administration, clinical documentation, emergency response procedures, and operation of medical equipment including EKG machines, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, and related healthcare equipment. Schedule & Shift 2nd
