JOB GOALS

To assist the school nurse with the nursing needs of the disabled students, and the planning, assessing, communication and evaluating the health care program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

: Nursing Duties Perform approved individualized medical health plan for each student daily such as administering prescribed medication, tube feedings, etc.). Demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing skills. Administers first aide. Gathers attendance information, follows-up to determine health status on absent students and reports findings to administration and teacher/therapist as needed. Determine status of ill students, contact family and arrange pick-up of ill student. Assumes charge of student when accident occurs, ensures transportation, contacts family and accompanies student to the hospital. Helps educate the student and family in his/her role in health care. Participates in student-centered conferences to plan, coordinate and evaluate care with staff and families (i.e. pre-admission interviews, case management, return to school, etc). Has knowledge of emergency equipment and its use. Maintains health records and treatment plans. Completes monthly maintenance check of medical equipment and seeks necessary repairs to ensure their ability to function when needed. Seek supervision from School Nurse to problem solve, express needs and expand professional skills. Technology Complete data entry (i.e. reports to state). Use word processing software programs (i.e. Letters, Flyers, etc.). Obtain training and incorporate new technology skills as required by Larc School. Professionalism Uphold confidentiality at all times. Speak positively about Larc School Maintain a professional and positive attitude. Maintain a positive working relationship with staff members. Demonstrate self-motivation and a willingness to learn. Seek professional development and continue to improve job skills. Accept constructive criticism. Maintain a professional appearance.
