Job Description
Job Summary The Patient Access Representative is responsible for registering patients, verifying insurance, collecting required documentation, and ensuring accurate and timely entry of demographic, financial, and clinical information. This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a critical role in delivering excellent customer service, supporting financial accuracy, and facilitating efficient patient flow. Responsibilities Greet patients, families, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Complete patient registration, including demographic, clinical, and financial information. Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization or referral information when required. Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances; provide receipts and documentation. Obtain patient signatures for required forms and consents. Maintain accuracy and confidentiality of all patient records, financial data, and protected health information (PHI). Scan and upload documents into electronic records and confirm data accuracy. Answer phones and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel. Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient flow. Follow organizational policies and regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, EMTALA, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in admissions, registration, billing, medical office, or similar setting preferred. Working knowledge of health insurance coverage, billing, and authorization processes helpful. Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
