  • Full-time Description Under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Violent Crime Prevention (OVCP) or designee, the Research Analyst will be responsible for coordinating and implementing planning and research functions related to the South Carolina Opioid Recovery Fund (SCORF) award.
The Research Analyst will perform related work as required to oversee the SCORF award approved uses, which include programs for Naloxone or Other FDA-Approved Drug to Reverse Opioid Overdose, MAT Distribution and other Opioid-Related Treatment, Expansion of Warm Hand-Off Programs, Prevention Programs, Evidence-Based Data Collection, and Training as set forth in South Carolina's Guide to Approved Uses for Investing Opioid Settlement Funds. The Research Analyst will work closely with both the Office of Violent Crime Prevention and Homeless Services. The work is considered sedentary in nature and involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. The work requires the following physical abilities to perform the essential job functions: hearing, mental acuity, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work requires professional dress and appearance with the ability to make a positive first impression. Overnight domestic and international travel may be required. Work environment is dynamic that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Essential Job Functions Conducts data collection and evaluation of the abatement of SCORF programs and strategies; Expansion of research regarding public health risks and harms; Conducts other research and analysis projects; To the extent possible, the research analyst will collect project data related to number of clients served, client outcomes, and other data points necessary to evaluate program efficacy; Attends relevant training and professional development sessions to enhance job knowledge and skills; Collects and evaluates abatement of SCORF programs as well as conduct research related to the opioid epidemic; Generates clean data for decision making, identify expansion projects, and monitor project outcomes; Serves as liaison and works collaboratively with community partners to align and sustain the City's Opioid Recovery Fund (SCORF) award initiatives; Manages the SCORF award professional service contracts; Prepares reports as required; Creates an annual report; and Fulfills other duties related to the SCORF award as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public health, finance, statistics, public administration, criminology, or a closely related field; a graduate degree or higher in one or more of the aforementioned fields is strongly preferred; Two (2) years of relevant prior experience; Or any equivalent combination of education and experience; and Valid South Carolina Class "D" Driver's License; Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of methods of research design, data collection, data manipulation, data analysis and presentation of information; Knowledge of applicable computer software products; Ability to analyze and interpret data using various statistical and mathematical techniques; Ability to prepare and present reports communicating the results of data analysis; Ability to communicate effectively; and Ability to plan, organize, and direct complex projects.
