DESCRIPTION
Primarily responsible for all Lab bench work and assistance in batch making working with Chemist and other Lab team.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Learns new procedures and accepts new assignments within reasonable timeframes, to be agreed upon by the employee and supervisor Make batches following assignment from Chemist, writes all notes on batch tickets and reports to Chemist on findings Maintains Lab cleanliness and organize the work area, cleaning lab dishes and other Lab duties Performs analytical testing on finished samples including pH, Viscosity, and other necessary testing Maintains awareness of changes in policies, procedures and protocols, arrives on time and prepared to start assignment, does not abuse paid time off, maintains universal precautions and complies with company policies and procedures Attends department and other meetings as required Establishes and maintains a cooperative relationship with customers, staff and other individuals Demonstrates effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking pertinent questions when clarification is needed Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions Adapts to changes or unusual circumstances in a way that promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption in working environment Follows written and verbal instructions of supervisor Interacts with fellow employees in a way that promotes harmonious and cooperative working environment Recognizes and resolves problems;troubleshoots malfunctions in procedures and uses alternative methods if available Coordinates efforts of working effectively with others in a way that is productive Coordinates efforts of effective work activities that contribute to company needs.
DIMENSIONS, TASKS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Aids the Formulation Chemist in sample making, project updates and documentation. Maintains lab cleanliness and organization. Supports R D, Operations and quality objectives. Works with Compounders during scale-up and pilot batches and troubleshoots as needed. Assists in fill weight documentation and SDS (MSDS) preparation. Gathers documents and data for product Specification Sheets. Maintains vendor samples and lab stock with proper documentation. Creates and ensures department SOPs are followed
MEETING PARTICIPATION
Research & Development daily meeting Any others as requested.
AUTHORITY
This position reports to the Research & Development Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position is not a managerial role and does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time non-exempt role.
EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent required.
WORK EXPERIENCE A
minimum 2 years related experience working in a lab environment Experience working in a GMP environment preferred Excellent written and verbal communication Strong problem-solving abilities 3+ years experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Base knowledge of chemistry, biology, math or other sciences, college or higher degree in same filed preferred Solid understanding and application of technical principles, concepts, industry practices and standards. Good human relations and oral/written communication skills Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Demonstrated ability to learn, follow and help refine procedures with minimal oversight Strong analytical / problem solving skills Function as part of a multi-discipline project team Works creatively and effectively and adopts hands-on focus including managing subordinates interactively on a daily basis Self-starter with willingness to expand expertise and skill base Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
