Job Description
This position will be responsible for operating additive manufacturing equipment to produce novel prototypes for a wide variety of end-users. Large-scale 3D printing is a cutting-edge area of research currently being led by the University of Maine and made possible by the World's Largest Polymer 3D Printers. This position will support the 3D printing laboratory operations team through development of laboratory operations procedures, assembly, operation, and maintenance of 3D printers. Training of students on the use of printers and troubleshooting problems is expected. Typical hiring salary for this soft-money funded position is up to $80,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required:
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or, a related Engineering field. Proven experience in advanced manufacturing for 1-3 years.Preferred:
Proficiency in CNC programming software for both 3-axis and 5-axis machines. Experience with large scale 3D print slicing and design for additive manufacturing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in cross-disciplinary research teams. Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. US Person.
