Research Engineer Intern

Job Summary The Research Engineer Intern will support the Research & Development team by conducting hands-on experimental research focused on understanding the process-property relationships of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) resin blends. This internship provides practical experience in polymer processing, materials characterization, and data analysis within an industrial research environment. The intern will contribute to a defined research project involving UHMWPE extrusion, thermal and mechanical testing, and statistical analysis, culminating in a formal technical presentation to R D stakeholders. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Chemical Engineering Materials Science & Engineering Mechanical Engineering Polymer Science Or a closely related technical field Completed coursework in materials science, polymers, or thermodynamics (preferred) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret scientific literature Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools Strong written and verbal communication skills Conduct a comprehensive literature review on UHMWPE resin blending, extrusion processing, and structure-property relationships Develop an experimental plan to evaluate at least three UHMWPE resin blends Prepare and extrude ribbon samples using laboratory or pilot-scale extrusion equipment Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Development, and Corporate Analytical Lab teams Perform thermal and mechanical testing using analytical laboratory equipment Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods Interpret results to identify resin blends with enhanced tensile strength and/or elongation compared to individual resins Document findings and prepare technical summaries and reports Deliver a final project presentation to R D team members
