Job Description
Residential Aide - Overnight Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Schedule:
(Wed-Sat, hours 9:15pm to 8:00am)Location:
1351 Olean Portville Rd; PO Box 229, Weston Mills, NY 14788 Driver's License Required Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, this position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the residential program and ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive environment for residents. Essential Job Responsibilities Provide transportation for residents to appointments and approved activities as needed. Model appropriate communication, boundaries, and problem-solving skills. Maintain ongoing communication with the House Manager regarding resident and facility status. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required by regulations or the Program Director. Maintain knowledge of and comply with all safety, security, emergency, and confidentiality policies, including participation in routine fire drills. Complete Critical Incident Reports accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain prescribed medication logs and shift logs clearly and consistently. Conduct resident urine screens and alco-sensor testing as required. Monitor residents' completion of daily chores and room upkeep. Address and de-escalate resident conflicts and document concerns using computer and daily shift reports. Assist residents with medication administration, including prescription pick-ups, logging medications, maintaining counts, and reporting any errors or concerns to the Program Director. Complete resident intake, admission procedures, and required documentation. Secondary Responsibilities Collaborate with care providers and referral sources to support coordinated client care. Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Attend professional supervision, case management meetings, and ongoing training. Stay current on agency policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Conduct random room searches and client property searches upon admission as assigned. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of substance use disorders and their impact on individuals and families. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population with varying needs. Foundational understanding of individual and group behavior, interviewing techniques, and crisis response. Knowledge of community resources for individuals with substance use disorders. Ability to recognize signs of substance abuse and gather relevant information regarding addiction. Strong documentation skills, including use of computer systems, databases, and spreadsheets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and the public. Physical Demands Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Regular use of computers, including keyboard and mouse. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Valid driver's license required; must be able to operate agency vehicles. Ability to manage stress, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to crisis situations. May be exposed to illness, unsanitary conditions, or physically threatening situations and must be able to ensure personal and resident safety. Work Environment This is a tobacco- and alcohol-free workplace. Work is primarily performed in a residential and office setting and requires adherence to strict agency policies and regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or a related human services field; or 1-2 years of relevant experience in a health or human services setting, preferably in substance use treatment.
