Residential Assistant

Residential Assistant (RA) - Night Shift (3 shifts of 12 hours) Position Summary The Residential Assistant (RA) supports overnight operations of the residential program at Riverfront Recovery. This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented environment during nighttime hours. Responsibilities include conducting resident safety checks, monitoring client behavior, documenting observations, ensuring adherence to program rules, and providing overnight support to residents while maintaining a calm and therapeutic environment. Minimum Qualifications / Requirements Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification throughout employment. Position may be full-time or part-time and requires flexibility for overnight, weekend, and holiday scheduling based on program needs. Must pass background checks and drug screening per regulatory requirements. Competencies Cultural competency and trauma-informed practices Urine drug screen (UDS) collection procedures Awareness of suicide risk factors and behavior monitoring Strong communication, reliability, and accountability in a residential setting Ability to work independently and respond appropriately during overnight hours Essential Job Functions Conduct routine overnight resident safety and room checks according to facility protocol. Monitor resident behavior and ensure compliance with house rules and overnight expectations. Respond appropriately to resident concerns, emotional distress, or behavioral escalations during overnight hours. Document significant observations, incidents, and overnight interactions in client records as indicated. Maintain a safe, clean, and structured residential environment throughout the shift. Supervise self-administration of medications following required training and protocols. Assist with overnight admissions, discharges, or client transitions when needed. Collect urine samples for drug screens under observation and document results per the UA schedule. Support residents experiencing difficulty sleeping, emotional distress, or withdrawal-related concerns by notifying clinical or nursing staff as appropriate. Perform light housekeeping, facility rounds, and shift preparation tasks as assigned. Ensure clear and thorough communication during shift handoff to daytime staff. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Residential Assistant or Program Leadership. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Ability to walk, stand, bend, or move for extended periods. Ability to lift or assist with lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to remain alert and responsive during overnight shifts. Ability to respond promptly and effectively in emergencies or crises. May involve exposure to emotionally charged situations and individuals in early recovery.
