Job Description
Job Summary Since 1973, the Respect Life Apostolate (RLA) of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, the first diocesan office established in the U.S. devoted to the pro-life cause, cherishes preborn life, walks with pregnant and parenting mothers, and helps those wounded by abortion to heal. The RLA accomplishes this through spiritual, pastoral (direct care), educational, and public advocacy efforts. The apostolate lives out the Catholic Church's teachings on respect for and legal protection of every human life from conception through natural death, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable. The RLA promotes our mission of life among the over 440,000 Catholics, 139 parishes, 88 elementary schools, and 24 high schools which comprise the Archdiocese. Interns will gain experience in pro-life ministry through hands-on projects and educational opportunities in an Archdiocesan office setting. The paid internship will be approximately 20 hours per week and run from approximately late May to early August and will include occasional evening and weekend hours.
Job Responsibilities
- Network with Catholic and respect life leaders in the Archdiocese
- Interact and serve with RLA team and interns who share a passion for building a "culture of life, civilization of love" (Evangelium Vitae, St. John Paul II)
- Engage in program and event planning, including evening and weekend pro-life events
- Witness and pray for the sanctity of human life outside of area abortion facilities
- Visit Walking with Moms St. Louis agencies that minister and accompany local pregnant/parenting mothers and their children
- Collaborate with Office of Youth Ministry initiatives including the Steubenville Conference
- Develop leadership skills in a multi-generational environment
- Contribute to web, social media, writing and research and assist in general office dutiesJob Requirements
- Understand, accept, and live out Catholic teachings, especially those regarding to the dignity of all human life from conception through natural death
- High school graduate, college student, or graduate student (must be 18 years old by June 1)
- Must be flexible, prayerful, responsible, proactive, able to work well on a team, and have excellent communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher primarily [PowerPoint, helpful, but not required]; familiarity with social media (Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook), Adobe Creative Suite and/or HTML helpful but not requiredThe Archdiocese of St.
