Weeks:

13 The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory care services to patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary conditions under the direction of physicians. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests, administering respiratory treatments, operating ventilators, and monitoring patient progress. Key Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders. Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, nebulizer treatments, and chest physiotherapy. Operate and manage ventilators and other life-support equipment. Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and pulmonary function testing. Respond to emergency situations including CPR, airway management, and code blue events. Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, medications, and home care equipment. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards. Required Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program. Current Respiratory Therapist license (state-specific).

Certification such as:

Must have RT license in Iowa BLS certification required;

Pay:

$53.07 per hour
