Overview Join our dedicated team as a Respite Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and individuals with disabilities. In this vital role, you will provide temporary relief and support to families and caregivers, ensuring that those with special needs receive compassionate, personalized care. Your positive energy and mentoring skills will foster a safe, engaging environment that promotes growth, independence, and well-being. Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, individualized care to children and individuals with disabilities during scheduled respite periods. Support clients with daily activities such as feeding, grooming, mobility assistance, and recreational engagement. Foster a nurturing environment by applying principles of special education and childcare to meet each person's unique needs. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and team members to develop tailored care plans that promote independence and social development. Manage behavioral challenges using conflict management techniques, maintaining patience and positive reinforcement at all times. Document care activities accurately and report any significant changes or concerns to supervisors promptly. Engage in mentoring activities that encourage social skills development, emotional regulation, and self-confidence. Skills Experience or training in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued. Strong background in behavioral health, child welfare, or social work enhances your ability to support diverse needs effectively. Proven ability to work compassionately with children and provide quality childcare in various settings. Excellent conflict management skills combined with patience and empathy for handling challenging situations calmly. Ability to teach life skills, promote positive behavior, and serve as a reliable mentor for clients of all ages. Knowledge of child safety protocols and experience in child welfare or related fields is a plus. Effective communication skills for collaborating with families, team members, and community resources.
