Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated assistant manager to oversee the daily operations of our establishment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a strong background in food service management. This role requires excellent leadership skills, the ability to manage staff effectively, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The assistant manager will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the restaurant run smoothly during shifts, from food preparation to guest satisfaction. Responsibilities
  • To oversee the entire staff to ensure smooth service ensuring proper staffing levels at all necessary positions.
  • Clear communication and team building with General Manager, Kitchen Manager and Assistant KM and management of expectations and goals.
  • Hiring of staff for busy season and keeping ownership apprised of hiring needs during the busy season and shoulder seasons.
  • Direction and training of the Bar and serving staff and delegation of duties and communications to FOH staff. This person should be in charge of either the bar ordering and performance or the schedule of the staff.
  • Communication to ownership on improvement/maintenance projects.
  • Creation, implementation, pricing and education of all bar menus, cocktails, wine lists and beer lists with attention to bar and food cost.
  • Working with BOH managers to train BOH staff while maintaining high standards of service and a good work morale while cultivating a positive and fun work environment and providing input on labor cost.
  • Ordering of all FOH equipment and supplies with attention paid to cost implications and inventory management.
  • Maintaining sanitation and cleanliness of all aspects of the restaurant particularly keeping the Front of the house (bathrooms, dining rooms and bar presentable to clientele).
This includes maintaining a maintenance report and facilitating and overseeing all maintenance in a timely fashion in order to keep the facility running efficiently and within the State and Federal health regulations and reporting any maintenance issues to ownership for scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Directing and maintaining all aspects of customer experience including, timely/friendly service, handling customer suggestions/complaints while maintaining food cost by limiting comps and voids through thorough oversight of the food ordering and delivery process.
  • Presenting new solutions/new policies to ownership towards a more efficient and successful restaurant and implementation of those policies/solutions per ownership direction.
  • Menu creation pricing and programming.
  • Working with and at the direction of ownership to the maintain food/beverage costs.
  • Weekly hours are estimated but not limited to 40-55 per week peak season and 30-40 off season as indicated below.
Qualifications Proven experience in food service or a similar role within the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation. Servsafe certification. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with guests and staff alike. Familiarity with bar operations and coffee service is preferred. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing restaurant operations. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
