Role Description We're looking for a Sales Associate who loves connecting with people, takes pride in knowing the product, and finds genuine satisfaction in helping a customer look and feel their best. This is not a role for someone who waits to be approached — it's for someone who is present, curious, and energized by the floor. At DSS, our sales team is the experience. You'll build real relationships with customers, some of whom have been shopping with us for decades. You'll develop deep product knowledge across a curated, high-quality assortment. And you'll be part of a tight-knit team that genuinely supports one another and takes pride in the store. Part-time and full-time candidates are both welcome. What You'll Do 1) Customer Experience Greet, engage, and build genuine rapport with every customer who walks in the door — make them feel at home Provide thoughtful, knowledgeable guidance on product, fit, styling, and gifting across all departments Develop and maintain lasting client relationships that bring customers back season after season Manage and maintain a customer wish list, following up when new product arrives that fits their taste Support in-store events and community activations that bring the DSS experience to life 2) Selling & Product Knowledge Meet individual and team sales goals with a focus on building units per transaction and basket size Develop and continuously deepen expertise across our brand assortment — fabrics, fits, construction, and care Introduce customers to complementary categories, brands, and our suiting program Participate actively in product training, brand clinics, and seasonal knowledge sessions 3) Store & Operations Uphold visual and merchandising standards on the sales floor throughout the day Support receiving, replenishment, and inventory processes as needed Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently Help maintain a store environment that feels welcoming, organized, and worthy of the brands we carry What You Bring Strong Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills to provide an exceptional shopping experience and build lasting relationships with clients Retail Sales experience with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales goals Solid Product Knowledge to effectively guide customers in their purchasing decisions Excellent Communication skills for interacting with customers and collaborating with team members Dependability, professionalism, and a proactive attitude Prior experience in retail or fashion would be an advantage Sensitivity to and alignment with the values of a family-owned and community-focused business Comfort working a flexible schedule that includes weekends and key selling periods Why Darien Sport Shop Work with some of the finest lifestyle and fashion brands in the industry — and actually know them inside and out Be part of an 80-year community institution where your work genuinely matters and your contribution is seen A culture built on teamwork and a store environment that is warm, well-run and worth being proud of Real career development: we invest in our people and promote from within Competitive hourly compensation commensurate with experience A role with real ownership — your work directly shapes the customer experience Health benefits & 401k full-time employees Employee discount on store merchandise
