This role focuses on selecting high-quality products, packaging orders properly, and ensuring customers receive excellent service and accurate orders. The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of Japanese food products and specific knowledge of sushi items, ingredients, and terminology. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fulfill customer online, pickup, and to-go orders accurately and efficiently. Select fresh, high-quality grocery and sushi products while following company quality standards. Verify order accuracy before completion and ensure all requested items are included. Properly package hot foods, sushi, refrigerated items, frozen items, and dry goods to maintain product quality and food safety. Communicate with kitchen, sushi, cashier, and grocery teams regarding product availability and substitutions. Assist customers with questions regarding Japanese food products, sushi items, ingredients, and preparation methods. Maintain knowledge of sushi terminology, common fish types, rolls, sauces, and side items. Ensure online order staging and pickup areas remain clean, organized, and properly stocked. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures. Monitor product freshness and report quality concerns to management. Assist with stocking, cleaning, labeling, and other retail support tasks as needed. Maintain a professional and customer-focused attitude at all times. Support smooth communication between departments to ensure timely order completion. Other responsibilities as requested by management. Qualifications General knowledge of Japanese food products and cuisine preferred. Knowledge of sushi products, ingredients, and terminology strongly preferred. Previous retail, grocery, restaurant, sushi, or food service experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments as needed. Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions. Work Environment This position works in a retail grocery and food service environment specializing in Japanese food products, sushi, and prepared foods. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required based on business needs.
