: Business Office Clerk
DEPARTMENT
: Rural Health Clinic (Hamilton, Hico, Goldthwaite)
JOB SUMMARY
: Front line contact for patient-related clinic services. Schedules, greets, registers and instructs patients for appointments, prepares patient records for appointments; collects insurance information and verifies insurance eligibility; collects payments/co-payments for appointments. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class
I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Schedules, greets, registers and instructs patients for appointments in a friendly and courteous manner. a. Promptly obtains and verifies patient information and any other pertinent information required to initiate clinic visit and insurance claim. Accurately enters and updates patient demographics and insurance information in system in a timely manner. b. Prepares medical record for appointment. B. Answers multi-line telephone promptly and courteously. Routes calls and takes messages as necessary. Documents actions related to patient contacts in electronic health record as applicable. C. Accurately collects payments, totals daily receipts and balances cash against receipts. a. Provides financial information options to patients and schedules with social worker as needed. Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
: A.
Education :
High school graduate or equivalent B. Personal job-related skills : Verbal and written communication skills. Customer-Service skills. Computer skills. Ability to multi-task. C. Licensure, registry or certification : None required. D. Experience 1.
Prior work experience:
One year experience in an office environment preferred. Experience in a medical/healthcare environment preferred. 2.
Technical training:
None required E. Physical and mental requirements : Duties of position require intermittent walking, sitting, standing and lifting up to 40 pounds.

Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. Adheres to Hamilton Healthcare System's Behavioral Standards. Emulates the customer service expectations for Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times. Abides by the Hamilton Healthcare System Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook. Performs all other duties as assigned.
