The Registered Nurse communicates with and on behalf of the client and coordinates client care with all health team members. The Registered Nurse organizes those aspects of nursing care for which s/he is accountable in a specified work period.Essential Job Functions:

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental safety policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations while using appropriate channels of communication to report concerns/issues such as hazardous conditions, equipment or utility malfunctions/failures, and other errors/issues as they arise. Accurately and thoroughly documents care plan, interventions, procedures performed according to policy. Participates in the medical plan of care for the patient. Accurate completion of medical orders. Reviews plan of care with patients and motivates them to achieve mutual goals. Evaluates the effectiveness of the care plan, reassesses and reviews as needed. Demonstrates clinical knowledge, analytic abilities, and independent judgement necessary to provide patient care for patients. Follows infection control procedures and universal precautions according to established policy and procedures. Promotes and maintains confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, healthcare personnel and the facility.Other Job Duties:
Psychosocial and spiritual aspects of care are addressed, and communication interventions documented. Assumes personal responsibility to complete all required competencies, certifications, annual HealthStream education and SQSS tasks within the assigned timeframes. Participates in hospital's quality, risk, and utilization plan by attending meetings and other activities. Demonstrates open communication and teamwork within each unit, between units, and house wide. Utilizes problem- solving methods to resolve differences with others in a non-judgmental manner. Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota Certification ~ BLS
- required, ACLS
- Required in the first 6 months of hire, PALS or ENPC
- Required in the first 6 months of hire, TNCC
- Required in the first 6 months of hire Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within six months.
