Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Nurse Aide RN Instructor will be to instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the certification exams for the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide (NA). Identifying skills gaps and assessing additional training needs for students. Assist students in registering for the PA State NA certification written and skills exams and ensuring they are prepared prior to taking the exam. Instructor will be responsible to work with and communicate effectively with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Teach the course curriculum as outlined, in the classroom, lab, and clinical unit while securing student records, textbooks and supplies during the classroom experience. Instructor will may also use companion, expert instructors during curriculum. Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the NA license. Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, discipline, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content. Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills. Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff in clinical training areas, expert instructors, and the Program Director. Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student's participation, interpersonal skill development and concepts of quality resident care. Report any additional program needs or directions related to the class to the Program Director. Understand and explain facility emergency procedures to students and supervise students during situations. Communicate effectively with all students being sensitive to students' needs. Continuously assess students' training and skills needs. Create additional training as needed for students to fill in any skill gaps to ensure all students complete course successfully. Notify nursing home management of dangerous safety issues encountered during nurse aide classes. Treat all residents fairly and with kindness. Provide care and services in a manner which is respectful of residents' rights and dignity and which allows residents the right to choose, including the right to refuse care/treatment. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and facility information and comply with applicable laws related to confidentiality (HIPAA). Provide a safe, secure, and home-like environment. Exercise care and concern for the property of the facility and residents' belongings. When dismissing a student or taking serious corrective actions with a student, the instructor will request a witness from the facility's HR Department to accompany him/her. Following the completion of classes, the instructor will complete all documentation and return it to the Program Director to prepare it for inspection by the Department of Education. Follow up with graduates of the NA class assisting them with 1:1 training in the lab or clinical unit. Educate and observe return demonstrations from RN, LPN, and CNA staff to ensure competency. Attend and participate in in-service education and on-the-job training as directed, especially mandatory in-services and department meetings. Be responsible to attain training hours required for position/discipline, especially required in-service training re: resident rights/abuse. Respond to fire alarms as required (refer to Fire Safety Manual for employees' responsibilities and those that are specific to your position). Follow all safety procedures and precautions in the performance of your duties and when operating equipment. Report all problems with equipment to supervisor and maintenance as soon as possible. Report all safety violations. Implement rights and responsibilities of the students using the Student Policies as the guideline. As the Nurse Aide RN Instructor, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Other duties as reasonably assigned. Communication Report all accidents, incidents, complaints/concerns and grievances made by the residents to the Team Leader/RN Supervisor. Report all allegations of resident abuse, neglect and/or misappropriation of property. Attend all staff meetings and/or read minutes from staff meetings. Safety/Procedures Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids. Follow established infection control measures in the performance of duties, including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, exposure to blood and body fluids, and standard precautions. Follow transmission-based precautions as instructed and required. Follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment. Keep floors dry. Report spills immediately. Keep excess supplies and equipment off the floor. Store in designated areas. Follow established smoking regulations. Report all violations. Maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures and applicable regulations. Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance by consistently complying with the facility's code of conduct and appearance and hygiene policy. Cultivate an atmosphere of mutual trust, respect, kindness and consideration. Promote collaborative relationships and teamwork, committed to the Carmelite Sisters' and the facility's Mission. Show respect and consideration toward each other, regardless of position. Train or direct other employees and volunteers as requested.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education :
The instructor must attend the seminar approved by the Teaching the Educator through Pennsylviania State Universiry within 1 month of being hired.Experience :
Two (2) year experience- 1 One LTC experience Must be able to meet physical requirements of position to assist students during clinical skills Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population Excellent organizational and communication skills Demonstrated teaching adult learners is a PLUS Willingness to work a flexible schedule Must be able to work independentlyCertificates & Licenses:
RN active license in the state of PA, with no current disciplinary actions, unrestricted Teach the Educator (TTE) certification or will obtain TTE certification within 6 months of hire. Other Physical/Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices) Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination. Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility. Works in the classroom, skills lab, and other areas as required, as well as throughout the facility. Moves frequently during work hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions.
