Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-MS Job Type Contract Deliver expert care in a dynamic environment focused on medical-surgical and telemetry patients. This contract assignment supports a progressive healthcare facility recognized as a Level 1 Trauma Center and teaching hospital, offering exposure to complex acute and chronic conditions. The 30-bed unit serves a full census with a strong support team, including CNAs, unit secretaries, resource nurses, and 24/7 access to hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists. Schedule & Hours 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule No on-call requirements Holiday coverage: one shift per major holiday schedule Qualifications Active RN license Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience BLS certification required Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) proficiency (must pass EKG Rhythm exam during onboarding) ACLS and national med-surg certification strongly preferred Willingness to float to all med-surg/telemetry units as needed Desired Skills & Experience Strong clinical assessment and med-surg skills within a high-acuity environment Proficiency with IV insertion, care, and central line management Cardiac monitoring, telemetry interpretation, chest tube, trach care, and wound care experience Management of post/pre-cardiac and step-down ICU patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, sepsis Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and Philips monitors Coordination of care and patient education, especially regarding renal and fluid management Responsibilities Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to a diverse patient population Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for case management, discharge planning, and patient education Respond rapidly to acute changes in patient status within busy, team-oriented unit dynamics Experience professional growth while providing quality care.
