Trauma Services Job Description Overview Position Overview:
IU Health Arnett is seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Quality Improvement (QI) Consultant to support Trauma Services. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated professional with a strong clinical background in Emergency Department, ICU, or Operating Room settings, possessing 3-5 years of relevant experience (5+ years preferred). This role involves developing, leading, and implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, clinical outcomes, and overall service excellence within the trauma program. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of continuous quality improvement activities for Trauma Services. Conduct ongoing analysis to identify gaps in clinical care, barriers to optimal outcomes, and areas for improvement, aligning initiatives with organizational strategic goals. Facilitate the organization's performance improvement processes in collaboration with project team leaders and multidisciplinary teams. Design and deliver training and education programs for staff and physicians on: Performance improvement methodologies Data analysis and data processing Work simplification techniques Other relevant subjects Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting to monitor clinical performance and support evidence-based decision-making. Serve as a subject matter expert in trauma care quality standards and best practices, including trauma-specific competencies such as TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course). Lead and participate in performance improvement projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Collaborate across departments to foster a culture of quality and safety.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree required. Masters degree in clinical healthcare or business preferred. Registered Nurse with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license preferred. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in Emergency Department, ICU, or OR settings; 5+ years of experience strongly preferred.
Microsoft Office skills to include:
Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and SharePoint. May require knowledge of data entry systems (e.g.
NCQA IDSS/ISS
tools, electronic health records, supplemental databases, HEDIS software tools). Occasional local travel (no overnight). Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification preferred.
