Job Description:
AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a growing organisation in the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and anaerobic digestion sector to appoint an RNG Plant Manager for a large-scale biogas facility based in Fulton, Michigan. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations across feedstock receiving, anaerobic digestion, RNG production, digestate management, and wastewater treatment within a 24/7 operational environment. The RNG Plant Manager will be responsible for driving plant performance, operational reliability, safety, compliance, and team leadership while working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, Environmental Compliance, and senior leadership teams. This opportunity would suit an experienced operations leader from the RNG, biogas, wastewater, power generation, landfill gas, or broader industrial process sectors who thrives in fast-paced plant environments and enjoys building strong operational cultures onsite.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all day-to-day plant operations and oversee overall facility performance Drive safe, efficient, and reliable RNG production across the site Utilize SCADA and HMI systems to monitor plant performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize operations Lead, mentor, and develop Operators and Technicians within a 24/7 operating environment Ensure compliance with all environmental, health & safety, and operational regulations and procedures Manage plant KPIs including uptime, production efficiency, reliability, and safety performance Coordinate closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability teams to support preventative and corrective maintenance activities Lead operational troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives Support budgeting, operational planning, and capital improvement projects Develop and maintain SOPs, operational procedures, and training programs Build and maintain a proactive, accountable, and safety-focused culture onsite Maintain strong communication across internal departments and external stakeholders where required Support staffing plans, scheduling, and operational coverage as needed Travel occasionally to support additional facilities or company operations
Requirements:
Previous experience managing operations within RNG, anaerobic digestion, biogas, landfill gas, wastewater, power generation, or industrial process facilities Strong understanding of anaerobic digestion and RNG production systems Experience leading teams within 24/7 industrial or process-driven environments Familiarity with
SCADA/HMI
systems and plant process optimization Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs, electrical, mechanical, and piping drawings Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities Proven experience driving safety, compliance, reliability, and operational performance Hands-on leadership style with the ability to support teams onsite and respond to operational challenges Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Comfortable working in physically demanding industrial environments and varying weather conditions Valid driver's license required What's on
