Route Driver

Job Overview This is a full‑time, on‑site Route Driver role. The Route Driver will be responsible for operating company vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries to customers, maintaining the integrity of transported goods, and adhering to all safety and DOT regulations. Duties include loading and unloading materials, performing basic vehicle inspections, and keeping accurate delivery records. The role also involves communicating with clients, providing strong customer service, managing delivery schedules effectively, and representing A&E Machine Shop in a professional and courteous manner. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM . Responsibilities Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations Ensure timely and accurate deliveries to customers Load and unload materials, maintaining the integrity of all transported goods Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of hazmat and tanker‑rated loads Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and paperwork Communicate clearly and professionally with customers Perform basic vehicle inspections, including air‑brake-related checks Demonstrate reliability, safety awareness, and willingness to learn Lift and handle materials as required during deliveries Qualifications Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with route driving responsibilities in a commercial setting. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or similar vehicles is highly desirable. Familiarity with warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts; certification is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual tasks safely; comfortable with moving goods of varying sizes and weights. Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude; excellent communication abilities are essential. Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and best practices for commercial driving including manual transmission operation.
