Job Description

Safety Advisor Jesup, GA 31545 From $70,000 a year - Full-time From $70,000 a year - Full-time Safety Advisor Jesup Georgia Reports to Corporate Safety Manager Nature of Work Generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. Performs evaluation and control of safety and health hazards. Work with all departments to minimize occupational health and safety risks and manage compliance with applicable regulations. Work to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries. Comply with OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards. Duties and Responsibilities This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have job-related knowledge and skills. Perform and update Job Hazard and Risk Assessments as requested. Perform comprehensive Environmental. Health and safety audits of all departments. Recommend measures to control exposures, including substitution of materials, personal protective equipment (PPE), work practice changes and engineering controls. Prepare and update training materials for employee training as requested. Present new employee and annual training to employees. Serve on safety committees and act as a liaison between the committees and management. Write reports documenting all safety concerns to safety manager and management. Comply with federal, state (CA and GA) and local regulations. Advise management of regulations and standards. Maintain compliance with GEOS, and state of Georgia EPF Perform accident investigations and make recommendations to prevent future incidents. Investigate health and safety complaints. Observe work in progress, ensure proper PPE is used, and procedures are followed. Attend company and customer meetings as requested. Develop and provide tailgate safety meeting material for managers. Present safety meetings and tailgate meetings as requested. Maintain records of inspections, findings and produce reports for improvement. Maintain records of incidents, accidents, near-hits and produce reports for improvement. Maintain records of employee training. Execute and maintain medical surveillance for employees e.g. Blood Lead/Zinc, PFT. Maintain medical records for Workers Compensation audits. Execute and maintain random drug screening. Implement, update and maintain mandatory programs e.g., Heat Illness, Short Service Employee, Stop Work Authority, Energy Control, and PPEas requested. Maintain records for Insurance audits. Maintain records for customer audits. Execute and maintain Respiratory and Fit Testing for employees. Execute and maintain Hearing Conservation for employees. Keep up to date with new legislation and any new developments that affect our industry. Manage and organize the safe disposal of hazardous substances. Prepare, update and maintain Material Safety Data Sheet Stations. Prepare and maintain all First Aid stations. Prepare and maintain all Fire extinguisher stations Prepare and maintain Behavioral Based Safety Management System. Perform monthly inspections of First Aid Stations, Ladders, Eye Wash Stations, emergency shower, emergency lightning and Fire Extinguishers. Evaluate, inspect, issue and maintain PPEand applicable records. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to occupational Environmental, Health and Safety. Knowledge of organizational and personnel management skills. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to use computer databases and spreadsheet programs. Basic knowledge of occupational safety, health, industrial hygiene principles and/or ergonomics. Ability to locate and use appropriate technical resources in occupational safety and health. Developed presentation skills. Ability to assess risks and hazards. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or any of the following recognized BCSP certifications:
CSP, ASP, OHST, GSP.
Certification from ASSE, NSC and OSHA or a field related to the work or four years' experience in a safety related field. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products be able to use Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and able to use internet with search engines. Must have current valid Driver's License and be auto insurable by Sierra auto insurance.

Occasionally pushing/pulling or performing repetitive motion. Occasionally this job requires lifting/carrying or otherwise transporting up to 50lbs. Occasionally this position must work extended hours (up to 12 hours in a shift) and be able to work any day during the week. Occasionally this position must travel nationally and/or internationally. Frequently works in extreme weather (cold or hot temperatures) at times depending on time of year (climate). Occasionally they may be exposed to hazardous conditions.
