Job Description

Safety Ambassador Red Bank, NJ 07701 $18 an hour - Part-time $18 an hour - Part-time Position Summary The Safety Ambassador helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all staff, volunteers, guests, and visitors at Lunch Break. This role is responsible for monitoring public areas throughout the facility, observing for safety concerns, helping prevent and de-escalate disruptive situations, and responding appropriately when issues arise. The Safety Ambassador serves as a visible and supportive presence, helping to uphold appropriate behavior in shared spaces while treating every person with dignity and respect. Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor public and common areas throughout the facility to help ensure a safe and orderly environment for guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Maintain an active presence in high-traffic areas and remain alert to safety concerns, behavioral issues, or situations that may require intervention.
  • Observe interactions and behavior in public spaces and respond to concerns in a calm, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to help reduce tension and manage disruptive or unsafe situations.
  • Involve appropriate staff or leadership when a situation requires additional support, intervention, or follow-up.
  • Contact police or emergency responders during emergencies or when there is an immediate threat to safety.
  • Maintain awareness of private or semi-private areas, including restrooms and surrounding hallways, to help ensure appropriate use and behavior.
  • Help reinforce facility expectations and boundaries in a respectful and consistent manner.
  • Communicate all noteworthy incidents, concerns, and unusual activity to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Document incidents, observations, and safety concerns clearly and accurately, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with staff across departments to support a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Perform all aspects of the role in a manner that reflects Lunch Break's values, helping maintain a safe environment while treating all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion.
  • Follow all organizational policies, safety protocols, and reporting procedures.
  • Participate in required safety, de-escalation, and response-related trainings.
  • Assist with incident reporting, ensuring that all accidents and near-misses are documented, investigated and follow-up actions are implemented.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness such as fire drills and evacuation procedures.
  • Work closely with management to address any safety concerns, suggest improvements and support compliance with safety standards. Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in stressful or sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to observe surroundings, identify concerns, and respond appropriately.
  • Experience in de-escalation, crisis response, guest services, security support, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive situations.
  • Commitment to treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people, including staff, volunteers, guests, and community members.
  • Reliable, attentive, and able to remain engaged throughout the workday. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility regularly during the course of a shift.
  • Ability to respond quickly to urgent situations when needed.
Work Environment This role is primarily based in shared public spaces and involves regular interaction with guests, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The Safety Ambassador must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and responding to situations that may be unpredictable or sensitive.
