Safety Engineer Job Description The Safety Engineer will support large-scale construction projects onsite, working directly in the field with trade crews to implement and administer company accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures. This role provides safety technical expertise to the branch, promotes safe work practices, and serves as a key liaison between the company and the client on all site safety matters. The Safety Engineer plays a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating safety and health hazards to ensure a safe work environment for all personnel. Responsibilities Work onsite at active construction projects, directly supporting field and trade crews with day-to-day safety guidance and oversight. Administer and enforce company accident prevention plans, safety policies, and procedures across the project site. Provide safety technical expertise and support to the branch, helping teams interpret and apply safety standards and regulations. Promote safety procedures and safe work practices through coaching, communication, and visible field presence. Assist in the investigation of work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-miss incidents, identifying root causes and contributing factors. Enforce corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors. Review all accident and incident investigation reports for completeness, accuracy, and quality of corrective actions. Act as a liaison between the company and the client regarding site safety management, ensuring alignment on expectations and standards. Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating both routine and non-routine safety and health hazards on the job site. Counsel and coach workers to gain compliance with accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures. Provide safety resources and guidance to workers, including information on safe work methods, equipment, and protective measures. Identify, anticipate, and evaluate potential safety and health hazards before and during construction activities. Conduct job site inspections and periodic safety audits to evaluate the level of compliance with safety requirements. Document inspection and audit findings and follow up to ensure timely completion of corrective actions. Establish branch and project safety goals in alignment with corporate standards and client expectations. Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure suitability and compliance with regulations. Support and deliver safety training related to OSHA requirements, construction safety, fall protection, aerial work platforms, and other relevant topics. Promote and reinforce a behavioral-based safety mindset throughout the workforce. Collaborate closely with craft workers, project management, and client representatives to maintain a strong safety culture on site. Essential Skills At least 4+ years of construction safety experience, preferably on large or complex construction projects. Demonstrated experience working in onsite construction safety roles with direct field and crew interaction. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards. OSHA 30 certification or equivalent OSHA safety training. Hands-on experience with fall protection programs and equipment. Experience with aerial work platform safety and compliance. Background in construction safety compliance and safety training delivery. Proven ability to conduct job site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments. Ability to investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries and recommend effective corrective actions. Very strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with craft workers, project management, and client representatives at all levels. Demonstrated behavioral-based safety mindset and practical experience applying behavioral safety principles in the field. Additional Skills & QualificationsOSHA 500
certification preferred; other relevant OSHA certifications are also valued. OSHA 510 or similar OSHA safety certifications are highly beneficial. Associate degree in a related field preferred. Experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) within construction environments. Ability to evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE). Strong coaching and counseling skills to influence safe behaviors and drive safety culture. Ability to set and track project and branch safety goals. Comfort using online learning and development platforms such as Udemy for ongoing professional growth. Work Environment This is a salaried, onsite position supporting construction safety at a data center project in Eagle Mountain. The Safety Engineer works primarily in the field on an active construction site, collaborating closely with a team of safety professionals, project staff, and craft workers. The environment includes typical construction site conditions, such as outdoor work, varying weather, noise, and active equipment and machinery. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided in accordance with safety policies. The role involves regular site walks, inspections, and direct interaction with crews and client representatives. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, UT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
