What Drives Success The factory Safety Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting initiatives that promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant manufacturing workplace. This role develops, implements, and monitors health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics programs that drive continuous improvement and support year-over-year reductions in workplace incidents and risks. The Safety Engineer partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, environmental, and ergonomics programs for the manufacturing facility. Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and recommend corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement. Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, ergonomic evaluations, and incident investigations to identify hazards and reduce workplace risks. Partner with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams during the design and modification of facilities, equipment, processes, and work areas to ensure HSE compliance and safe work practices. Develop and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, training materials, and documentation. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards. Stay current on changes in HSE laws, regulations, and industry best practices and communicate impacts to facility leadership. Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and support inspections, audits, and reporting requirements. Lead or support employee safety training programs and promote a culture of accountability and engagement in workplace safety. Recommend and implement innovative solutions and best practices to improve workplace safety, ergonomics, and environmental performance. Support emergency response planning, incident management, and corrective action follow-up activities. Provide guidance, coaching, and technical expertise to supervisors, leaders, and employees regarding HSE matters. May provide work direction or mentorship to other HSE professionals or site safety representatives.
What We Are Looking For Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), Engineering, or a related field required. Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in health, safety, environmental, and/or industrial safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred. Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Expert knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and workers' compensation best practices and regulations. Proven success driving continuous improvement initiatives in HSE performance and safety culture. Strong experience developing, implementing, and facilitating safety and compliance training programs. Experience conducting incident investigations and utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as Apollo Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), or similar tools. Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with and present to senior leadership and executives. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Ability to influence cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
What We Offer Compensation :
This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $110,000 and $150,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company's applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.
