Safety Inspector•Pacific Northwest OR, USA Safety Inspector•Pipeline/Oil & Gas Projects 
Location:
Pacific Northwest•this position will move around to various projects in the area
Start:
ASAP•October Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Safety Inspector to join our inspection services team, specializing in pipeline and oil & gas project oversight. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies across active construction and operational sites. This role requires extensive field work in challenging environments and demands a strong commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards in high-risk industrial settings. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive daily safety inspections of pipeline construction sites, oil and gas facilities, and related infrastructure Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations Verify adherence to company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices (API, ASME, NACE standards) Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and ensure proper selection for specific hazards Review and verify safety documentation, permits, and certifications Identify potential safety hazards including but not limited to: confined spaces, H2S exposure, explosive atmospheres, high-pressure systems, and heavy equipment operations Conduct job safety analyses (JSA) and participate in hazard identification processes Assess risks associated with hot work, excavation, lifting operations, and pipeline integrity activities Monitor environmental conditions and ensure appropriate safety measures are in place Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, violations, and corrective actions Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, near-misses, and corrective measures Generate daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports for clients and management Document non-compliance issues and track resolution progress Photograph safety violations and corrective actions for record-keeping Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks for field personnel Provide safety orientation for new workers entering the site Communicate safety requirements and standards to contractors and subcontractors Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and safety coordinators Serve as liaison between inspection company, clients, and regulatory agencies Respond to safety incidents and coordinate with emergency services when required Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis Ensure proper emergency response equipment is available and functional Assist in developing and reviewing emergency action plans Required Qualifications Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required Current First Aid/CPR certification H2S Alive or equivalent certification for hydrogen sulfide safety Valid driver's license with clean driving record Experience Minimum 3-5 years of safety inspection experience in oil & gas, pipeline, or heavy industrial construction Demonstrated knowledge of pipeline construction processes and safety requirements Experience with high-pressure systems, hazardous materials, and confined space operations Familiarity with DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations (49 CFR Parts 190-199) Technical Knowledge Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, particularly 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) Knowledge of API standards (API 1104, API 570, API 653, etc.) Understanding of NACE corrosion control standards Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements Proficiency in safety inspection software and documentation systems Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation Additional certifications: NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent international safety credentials Experience with pipeline integrity management and risk assessment Knowledge of cathodic protection systems and corrosion monitoring Previous experience with natural gas distribution or transmission systems Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferred in certain regions
