CONTRACT SAFETY MANAGER
LEAD SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced, qualified, and field-based Contract Safety Manager to serve as the Lead Safety Representative on an active construction project in Santa Teresa, NM. This is a contract position lasting approximately 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The Safety Manager will hold full authority to enforce hazard control procedures and is empowered to stop any operation deemed life-threatening or likely to cause serious bodily harm. Safety is the sole responsibility of this role — no payroll administration, sign-in cards, delivery duties, or other secondary functions will be assigned.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine proper procedures for controlling identified hazards and enforce them consistently across all work areas Maintain a full-time field presence and conduct consistent rounds of all work areas during each shift Stop any operation that presents a life-threatening risk or potential for serious bodily harm Conduct, complete, and review all investigative incidents and near-miss reports Perform weekly safety audits and report findings to the Safety Manager, Project Managers/Superintendents, and the Regional Safety Manager at frequent intervals to ensure consistency and effectiveness of the Site Specific Safety Program Monitor work practices of all subcontractor employees to ensure contract safety requirements are continuously adhered to Provide advice and assistance on the implementation of the Project Site Specific Safety Plan Develop and implement safety orientations and training programs and measure the effectiveness of the overall program Check first aid and safety supplies, document inventory, and order replacements as needed Provide and demonstrate the use of prescribed safety equipment, including safety glasses, Type 2 helmets, face shields, respirators, fall protection devices, and protective clothing Immediately report any incidents to the proper authorities and project management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1
to 2 years of dedicated, relevant safety experience plus OSHA 30 - Construction A bachelor's degree is not required, but preferred. Qualifications will be reviewed and must be approved prior to mobilization. The selected candidate must be on site 100% of the time with safety as their full and sole responsibility.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have full authority to enforce safety procedures and stop work when necessary Must be capable of conducting thorough incident investigations and providing actionable reports Must be experienced in developing and delivering safety orientations and training Familiarity with subcontractor safety compliance and multi-tiered workforce management preferred Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Regional Safety leadership
