Full Job Description Job Summary:
This position provides a broad range of business development services to fulfill the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Inc. mission by coordinating business development activities such as Job Development and Placement, On-the-Job Training (OJT), Internships and other employment and training programs as directed. This position will develop and implement initiatives such as recruiting high demand occupations or mass hiring opportunities, developing and coordinating community events, and implementing training programs.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and maintain relationships with area businesses, contacting prospective businesses to explain services, features, benefits and obtain job order listings. Planned business contacts activities may be made by personal visits, telephone, and electronic communications. Meet with prospective customers to explain and solicit agreements relating to training and employment programs operated under the jurisdiction of the Workforce Board. Identify, develop, and sustain long-term relationships with employers and partner organizations across Southwest Florida (SWFL) through proactive outreach efforts, including participation in networking events and advisory boards, as well as cold calling, phone outreach, email marketing, and other employer engagement activities. Navigate on-line employment and training systems, such as Employ Florida, and other job search platforms to identify potential leads for available employment and training programs. Coordinate activities such as career fairs, employment and training forums, seminars, and other special events. Promotes and provides information on the Career Center services. Serve as a liaison between the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, Inc. and business organizations, professional and community-based organizations, and educational institutions as assigned by the Services Director. Facilitate job placements, internships, On-the-Job Training (OJT), apprenticeships, work experience activities, and HOPE initiative employer engagement, including candidate referrals and assistance with agreement development as needed. Create and conduct presentations to promote initiatives and other employment and training activities. Record and document employer services provided in the state-level job board, including services delivered in person, by phone, or via email, contributing to organizational goals. Support the eligibility process for potential candidates for Work-Based Training programs by conducting outreach calls and pre-screening interviews. Monitor and manage employer partnerships within Work-Based Training initiatives to ensure program success, increase employer satisfaction, promote repeat business services, and support long-term employment outcomes. Develop and strengthen a network of professionals in career transition (PCN) through the coordination and facilitation of workshops focused on employability skills development. Review and comply with the State and Local Level policies related to, Rapid Response, Adult and Youth WIOA eligibility, Dislocated workers, apprenticeships, Priority Services (Veterans), and other programs related to Business Services. Develop and implement strategies to expand and strengthen Business Services by leveraging data and insights from available internal and external information sources. Support center staff and the Work-Based Training Specialist in identifying co-enrollment opportunities across multiple programs for eligible customers.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
  • Support and train staff members on Business Services processes and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and effective service delivery.
  • Assist with transporting, setting up, and dismantling tables, banners, signage, and promotional materials for career fairs and community events.
  • Carry and distribute marketing materials, brochures, and informational packets at employer sites and networking events.
  • Assist with arranging meeting rooms, seating configurations, and audiovisual equipment for workshops or employer meetings.
  • Attend off-site meetings requiring mobility between venues.
  • Participate in community volunteer activities representing the organization.
Supervision Exercised None Supervision Received:
This position reports directly to the Business Services Director. The position requires independent judgment and discretion in making day-to-day decisions with respect to work schedules, what is to be done and how to proceed. Job duties shall be performed independently after general direction is provided. Internal - Maintains a close working relationship with CareerSource Southwest Florida Supervisors. Works cooperatively and professionally with all internal staff. External - Sustains frequent contact with the private and public business sector, economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, educational institutions and other employment and training providers.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of education. Two years of sales or marketing experience requiring, establishing, and maintaining effective working relationships with customers is preferred. Must be experienced in and demonstrate strong computer, written and oral communication skills. This position demands the ability to influence the management team through written/interpersonal, presentation skills, and the ability to simultaneously address multiple projects and challenges. Ability to communicate in all media and in individual and group presentation settings. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Excellent customer service and customer satisfaction skills.
  • Basic knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment and training laws and regulations.
Considerable knowledge of One-Stop Career Center systems and its partners and other local community organizations preferred. Learn and use applicable State of Florida and/or Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board computer systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public speaking are essential. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications including but not limited to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to use state workforce databases and the internet to conduct research and obtain data.
Other Requirements :
Reliable transportation is necessary for travel throughout the workforce development region. May attend various functions and meetings which may occur before or after normal business hours. Valid Florida Driver's License and Insurance.
Physical Requirements:
  • Physical ability to perform the above listed Job Functions.
  • May be required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Infrequent light physical effort required - reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques required which may include lifting to 25 pounds for files and computer printouts on occasion.
  • Work is performed in an office environment.
