Position Summary Vital Care of Bethesda is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Acute Infusions Account Executive to grow referral partnerships for our home and ambulatory infusion services. This role is responsible for building strong relationships with hospitals, discharge planners, case managers, physician offices, specialty clinics, nursing partners, and other referral sources that manage patients requiring acute infusion therapy. The ideal candidate understands healthcare sales, discharge planning, provider relationships, and the urgency involved in getting patients safely transitioned from hospital or clinic to home infusion. This is not a "drop off brochures and disappear" role. We need someone who can build trust, solve problems, follow up relentlessly, and make Vital Care of Bethesda the preferred infusion partner in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Referral Development & Relationship Building Develop and maintain referral relationships with hospitals, case managers, discharge planners, social workers, physician offices, infectious disease practices, wound care centers, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other healthcare providers. Identify new referral opportunities for acute infusion services, including IV antibiotics, anti-infectives, hydration, line care, and other appropriate home infusion therapies. Conduct regular in-person visits, phone follow-ups, email outreach, and scheduled meetings with referral partners. Position Vital Care of Bethesda as a responsive, reliable, clinically strong infusion provider that can help avoid delays in discharge and reduce unnecessary hospital stays. Acute Infusion Growth Focus primarily on acute therapies, including: Serve as the main relationship contact for assigned accounts. Track referral activity, account notes, follow-up tasks, objections, decision-makers, and referral trends. Work closely with intake, nursing, pharmacy, billing, and operations teams to ensure smooth patient onboarding. Communicate referral status updates to providers and case managers professionally and promptly. Help resolve referral barriers such as missing orders, insurance issues, nursing availability, or documentation gaps. Market Intelligence Identify competing infusion providers, hospital discharge patterns, payer barriers, nursing gaps, and unmet needs in the territory. Report market feedback to leadership so Vital Care of Bethesda can improve service offerings, messaging, and account strategy. Identify high-value accounts and prioritize outreach based on referral potential. Sales Activity Expectations Maintain a consistent weekly schedule of field visits, calls, emails, and follow-ups. Build a pipeline of active accounts and referral opportunities. Meet or exceed monthly activity and referral goals. Provide regular reporting on account progress, referral volume, and next-step opportunities. Ideal Candidate Profile The right person is: A healthcare relationship-builder who knows how to earn trust. Comfortable walking into hospitals, clinics, and provider offices. Persistent without being annoying. Big difference. Organized enough to follow up before opportunities go cold. Professional enough to speak with physicians, nurses, case managers, and administrators. Hungry enough to grow a territory from the ground up. Smart enough to understand that healthcare sales is not just "selling." It is solving workflow problems for busy people. Required Qualifications Minimum 2 years of healthcare sales, account management, provider relations, discharge planning, home health, hospice, DME, specialty pharmacy, infusion, pharmaceutical, or related experience. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to travel locally throughout Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. Comfortable using CRM tools, spreadsheets, email, and basic reporting systems. Professional appearance and strong follow-through. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience selling or developing referrals in one or more of the following: Home infusion Specialty pharmacy Home health Hospice DME Hospital discharge planning Infectious disease Wound care Skilled nursing facilities Physician office marketing Existing relationships with hospital case managers, discharge planners, infectious disease offices, wound care centers, or post-acute care providers in the DMV area is a strong plus. Compensation Compensation will be competitive and may include: Base salary Performance-based bonus or commission Mileage reimbursement Phone allowance Growth incentives based on referral volume and account development Final structure will depend on experience and territory responsibility.
