Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a Senior 401(k) Relationship Manager with strong technical expertise and a desire to grow into a more client-facing, consultative, and potentially advisory-focused role. This is not an operations-only position . You will act as the day-to-day quarterback for retirement plans , partnering closely with advisors, plan sponsors, and TPAs to deliver high-quality outcomes while building toward a broader role in client relationships, strategic planning, and business growth. This position is ideal for an experienced 401(k) professional who wants to move beyond back-office administration into client engagement, relationship management, and long-term career growth in advisory or sales leadership . What You'll Do Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for plan sponsors and internal stakeholders Own and manage ongoing plan administration , including: Census data coordination Eligibility and compliance oversight Testing coordination (ADP/ACP, top-heavy, etc.) Lead and support plan installations, conversions, and terminations Partner closely with TPAs, recordkeepers, and custodians (Ascensus, Empower, Fidelity-aligned providers, etc.) Ensure smooth coordination of 5500 workflows, payroll feeds, and compliance processes Participate in client meetings with employers, HR teams, and business owners Support annual plan reviews and strategic discussions Identify opportunities to: Improve plan design Increase participation Enhance client satisfaction Assist advisors in prospect conversations and business development efforts Act as the first line of support for plan sponsors , escalating strategic opportunities to advisors What Success Looks Like Plans are administered accurately, efficiently, and proactively Plan sponsors view you as a trusted partner , not just a service provider Advisors are freed up to focus on growth and higher-level strategy Plan installations and conversions run smoothly and on time You actively contribute to client retention and new business growth You grow into broader responsibilities in client relationships and advisory support Required Qualifications 4-8+ years of hands-on 401(k) administration experience Strong experience with: Census management Eligibility tracking Compliance testing coordination Plan servicing lifecycle Experience working directly with TPAs and recordkeepers Solid understanding of ERISA regulations and compliance requirements Ability to manage multiple plans and deadlines with precision Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an advisor-led or consulting-based retirement plan model Prior exposure to: Client relationship management Sales support or advisory environments Experience participating in client or prospect meetings Professional certifications such as:
QKA, CPFA, CEBS
