Job Description

About Chefables Chefables is a prepared-meal and delivery company with more than two decades of experience serving school districts and institutional clients across California. We pair scratch-cooked, nutrition-standards-compliant meals with dependable daily logistics, helping schools and partner organizations feed their communities well. As we grow our Bay Area presence, we are looking for a relationship-driven sales professional who can both deepen the partnerships we already have and bring new clients on board. Position Summary The Customer Relationship Manager / Account Executive owns the full client lifecycle — from prospecting and winning new accounts to retaining, supporting, and growing the relationships we already serve. This is a hybrid "hunter and farmer" role: roughly half your time is spent identifying new opportunities and responding to bids and RFPs, and the other half is spent acting as the trusted point of contact for existing accounts, ensuring service quality, renewals, and expansion. You will work cross-functionally with operations, kitchen, and delivery teams to make sure every commitment we make to a client is one we keep. Key Responsibilities Account Management & Retention Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of school district and institutional accounts. Build long-term, trust-based relationships that drive renewals, references, and referrals. Conduct regular check-ins, site visits, and business reviews to monitor satisfaction and surface needs early. Coordinate closely with operations, kitchen, and delivery teams to resolve service issues quickly and keep clients confident in Chefables. Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts through added sites, programs, or menu offerings. Manage contract renewals, pricing discussions, and compliance documentation in partnership with leadership. New Business Development Prospect, qualify, and pursue new school district and institutional clients across the region. Lead and coordinate responses to RFPs, bids, and proposals — owning timelines, requirements, and submission quality. Deliver compelling presentations, tastings, and capability demonstrations to prospective clients and decision-makers. Build and maintain a healthy pipeline, accurately forecasting opportunities and tracking activity in the CRM. Represent Chefables at industry events, district meetings, and networking opportunities. Stay current on school nutrition standards, procurement processes, and competitor activity to position Chefables effectively. General Maintain accurate records of client interactions, contracts, and pipeline activity. Collaborate with marketing and leadership on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategy. Contribute to a culture of accountability, food quality, and exceptional client service. Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience in account management, sales, business development, or client services — ideally in food service, B2B, or a relationship-driven industry. Demonstrated success both retaining/growing accounts and winning new business. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to groups and decision-makers. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts, deadlines, and proposals simultaneously. Proficiency with CRM tools and standard office software. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region for site visits and meetings. Preferred Experience selling into or working with K-12 school districts or other public/institutional clients. Familiarity with RFP and public procurement processes. Knowledge of school nutrition standards (e.g., NSLP) and food-service compliance. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, hospitality, or a related field. What Success Looks Like Existing clients renew, expand, and recommend Chefables to peers. A consistent, well-qualified pipeline of new opportunities turns into won contracts. Clients experience Chefables as responsive, reliable, and easy to work with.
