The Patient Accounts Specialist (PAS) is a dual role shared between the Business Office and Health Information Management. The PAS is responsible for coordinating, problem-solving and responding to patient billing concerns by facilitating open dialogue with patients, family members, and other authorized individuals involved in the patients account(s). The PAS helps patients to enroll in exchange plans and ensures patients proactively receive financial assistance, charity care, or other means of external assistance necessary to ensure the healthcare needed is received. In addition, the PAS is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Electronic Health Record, by ensuring documents are correctly filed within the patient account, as well as by disseminating information to the correct provider for completion. The PAS has dual reporting to the Senior Director of Revenue Cycle. Position Requirements High School Diploma preferred Previous experience in medical billing practices, insurance and/or health information and customer service is required Position Knowledge/Skills Math skills to calculate payments Computer skills - Microsoft office including Word and Excel Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate effectively.
