Job Description

Brown & Brown is Seeking a Sales Intern to join our growing team in Ft. Wayne, IN. How You Will Contribute Responsible for the identification of prospective accounts in our various market segments through independently determining which market segments and geographic territories to target, and determining the best methods of research, information gathering, and evaluation, including direct and indirect web searching. Responsible for the identification of the insurance broker/representative for the prospective accounts identified above. This task will be accomplished primarily by identifying the appropriate contact person at each prospective account, initiating cold-calls to the contact, and following up as needed to obtain the required information. Intern must properly represent American Specialty to all potential clients and brokers contacted. Once identified, the account information should be given to the appropriate Business Development Leader for him/her to follow up with the ultimate goal of selling the account. Responsible for tracking and reporting activity and results. Success is determined by the number and quality of accounts/brokers identified, in addition to the intern's ability to effectively work alongside the Client Services team. Any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Senior Business Development Leader. Skills & Experience to Be Successful Requires excellent communication skills, particularly with regard to client relations, as well as negotiation and investigative abilities. Requires effective and efficient use of office equipment (computer, scanner, copier, etc.), typing skills, and ability to read, input and interpret data in written form on computer screen. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
