QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate and four years of experience in bookkeeping or other accounting work. Degree in related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

JOB GOAL
To maintain centralized individual school accounts, prepare monthly reports for the schools on a timely basis, trains all new bookkeepers and completes various state and federal reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is the primary contact for Individual Schools Accounting, including training, support, procedures and compliance. The majority of time will be spent in the field working with school bookkeepers and requires use of personal vehicle while traveling between locations. Maintains monthly logs of bank reconciliations from schools; verifies accuracy of bank reconciliations from schools, crosschecks balances with school reports and reviews bank statements for compliance. Reviews on a monthly basis the Statement of Receipts and Disbursements, Trial Balance, Expenditure Reports, and Monthly Deposit Reports for each school. Maintains chart of accounts and adds/inactivates codes for the schools as necessary. Maintains vendor listing and adds/edits vendors for the schools as necessary. Assists school bookkeepers in the preparation of individual school financial records. Trains new school bookkeepers on Individual Schools accounting procedures and programs utilized. Provides support to school when Bookkeeper is absent. Maintains School Bookkeeper Meeting Notes Google file. Reviews Individual School Fundraiser, Monthly Budget Reports, Sales Tax and Year End Reports for timely and accurate filing. Reviews the Outstanding Checks Register for individual schools to determine Escheat Checks and compiles the annual list that is submitted to the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Audits the individual schools check registers for the fiscal year verifying sales and food tax entries for completion of the North Carolina Department of Revenue Annual Report for Local Sales Tax refund. Audits the individual schools check registers to ensure 1099 Contracted Services are reported accurately and compiles report for issuance of 1099 Forms. Completes the Biannual Cash Report verifying individual school bank balances. Verifies school receipt book reconciliations annually. Assists External Auditors with audit inquiries relative to Individual Schools. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have finger dexterity and have ability to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Must possess the visual acuity to work with data and figures, operate a computer and other office equipment, and perform accounting functions. Must be able to perform medium lifting exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
