Part-Time / Contractor About Us The Local Butcher Shop is an award-winning, worker-owned neighborhood butcher shop in Berkeley focused on whole-animal butchery, locally sourced meats, and connecting our community with sustainable food systems. We're looking for a creative, self-driven Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to help grow our online presence, increase customer engagement, and communicate everything happening inside our shop. Position Overview This role is responsible for managing our social media presence, creating engaging content, maintaining our website, coordinating influencer partnerships, and supporting in-store marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate understands current social media trends, knows how to create compelling content that drives purchases, and has a passion for food, local businesses, and storytelling. ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Strategy & Content Creation Assist managing the content calendar and publishing engaging content for Instagram and TikTok. Participate in meeting with Media team Help develop content strategies that connect products to customer behaviors and trends. Write compelling hooks and captions that drive interest and purchases. Ideate more personable, behind-the-scenes, educational, and humorous TikTok content. Stay current with trends, sounds, and viral opportunities. Reduce reliance on Stories and prioritize high-performing video content. Influencer Partnerships Research and identify local food influencers and creators. Coordinate collaborations and outreach. Create and manage unique Shopify promo codes for influencer campaigns. Track campaign effectiveness and customer conversions. Internal Marketing Communicate upcoming events, classes, special products, and seasonal offerings throughout the store. Design and produce in-store posters, signage, and promotional materials. Establish and maintain a consistent visual brand identity and graphic style. Packaging & Merchandising Assist developing gifting ideas and seasonal packaging concepts. Explore smaller packaging and bag options that improve customer experience and presentation. Website & Digital Marketing Create graphic pieces and regularly update website banners and featured content. Improve SEO across products and website pages. Update product descriptions and photography where needed. Identify and correct website inconsistencies or missing information. Develop Google Ads campaigns and other digital marketing initiatives. Qualifications Experience creating strategy for Instagram and TikTok. Strong graphic editing skills (Adobe, Canva) Understanding of social media trends, hooks, and audience engagement. Familiarity with Shopify. Intermediate knowledge of SEO and Google Ads. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Interest in food, local businesses, sustainability, and storytelling is a strong plus. Success Metrics Success in this role will be measured by: Growth in social media engagement and followers. Increased reach and performance of Reels and TikTok videos. Successful influencer partnerships and promo code usage. Improved website quality and SEO performance. Strong communication of shop events, classes, and promotions both online and in-store.
