$20/hr Position Summary The Commencement Assistant is a temporary, event-based student employee who provides onsite support during Post University s commencement ceremony. This role is focused exclusively on event-day operations and guest services, assisting with logistics, graduate coordination, and directional support to ensure a smooth, professional, and celebratory commencement experience for graduates, families, faculty, and staff. Commencement is on Saturday, May 9th with potential to work in the Palace Theater in Waterbury or Post Downtown building. Key Responsibilities Provide event-day support for commencement activities as assigned by the Office of Campus Life. Assist with venue setup and breakdown, including seating, signage, and supply placement. Support graduate check-in, line-up organization, and procession flow. Serve as a visible point of contact for graduates, guests, faculty, and staff by providing directions and assistance. Monitor assigned areas (e.g., graduate staging, guest seating, entrances/exits) and communicate needs or concerns to professional staff. Distribute and restock commencement materials such as programs, name cards, and signage as needed. Support accessibility needs and accommodations under the direction of professional staff. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and composure in a high-traffic, high-visibility environment. Follow all event protocols and respond promptly to instructions from Campus Life staff. Assist with additional commencement-day duties as assigned. Qualifications Current Post University Resident Assistant in good conduct standing. Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA at time of application and throughout appointment. Current Post University student in good conduct standing. Availability to work required commencement day hours (including extended periods of standing and walking). Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact professionally with diverse populations. Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, punctual, and detail oriented. Ability to assist with light physical tasks related to event setup and breakdown. Prior event support or customer service experience preferred but not required.
