Position Summary:
The Center for Online and Continuing Education is seeking an Online Student Advisory Board (OSAB) Events and Services Chair - Student Assistant in Boca Raton, FL. With over 30,000 students from all 50 states and over 180 countries, 21 intercollegiate teams, 180 plus degree programs, and an administration that thrives on discovery and excellence, FAU is pushing the boundaries of higher education. The Online Student Advisory Board (OSAB) Events & Services Chair will serve as a primary architect of the online student experience, ensuring online students feel like true members of the Florida Atlantic community. This role is responsible for bridging the events and services gap between distance learners and the university through high-impact programming, strategic collaboration, and data-informed event management. Key Responsibilities Design, lead, and execute events specifically tailored to foster community and belonging within the online student population at FAU. Oversee all event logistics, including master scheduling, resource allocation, marketing, cross-departmental coordination, registration, and real-time participation tracking. Master and manage FAU's primary engagement platform, Owl Central, ensuring all events are properly registered, tracked, and compliant with university standards. Partner with Board leadership and FAU professional staff to identify critical student needs, translating those insights into innovative services and engagement initiatives. Implement robust feedback mechanisms to evaluate event ROI (Return on Investment) and student satisfaction, utilizing data to refine and scale future OSAB initiatives. Participate in required Registered Student Organization trainings as needed. Other job-related duties as assigned. BDB Minimum Qualifications:
Degree-seeking undergraduate student enrolled as an online student at FAU with a minimum of six credit hours (or twelve if international), a minimum GPA of 2.50, and commitment to serving in the role for at least one academic year required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience in event planning or project coordination. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students and staff. Ability to work independently and take initiative on projects. Comfort with virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Canvas).
