This entry-level position is ideal for someone who loves engaging with the public, enjoys high service customized sales, and supporting the daily operations of a professional gallery environment. The Gallery Associate is often the first point of contact for visitors—providing a welcoming presence, answering questions, assisting with sales, and ensuring the gallery remains a clean, polished, and inspiring place to experience art. Key Responsibilities Visitor Experience & Sales Support Warmly welcome visitors and offer an approachable, positive presence in the gallery Engage guests in conversations about artworks, artists, materials, and techniques Assist collectors and buyers through the sales process, from initial inquiry to purchase Facilitate smooth communication with senior staff for more in-depth sales conversations Gallery Operations Maintain cleanliness and overall presentation of the gallery (including sweeping, dusting, glass cleaning, trash removal, and other daily tasks) Assist with restocking materials and preparing the gallery for openings or events Support installation days by helping with physical tasks such as moving artwork through three floors of space and support activities including organization, labeling, and cleanup Answer phones, direct inquiries, and provide general administrative support as needed Team Collaboration Work closely with gallery staff to support exhibitions, receptions, and special events Attend monthly team meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment Provide assistance to the Gallery Director and team when needed Qualifications Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable engaging with visitors and buyers Interest in contemporary art, craft, and artistic processes Strong communication skills and confidence when interacting with the public A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to pitch in wherever needed Ability to learn and speak about artists, materials, and techniques Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling multiple tasks in a busy environment Ability to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, lift and move artwork, and handle physical tasks Availability to work weekend days
Preferred Experience:
