POSITION SUMMARY
Main Street Lorain is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Events Coordinator to join our team. This role is central to how we connect with our community — managing our social media presence, coordinating our robust events, and strengthening our brand identity. The ideal candidate is passionate about community development, comfortable wearing many hats in a fast-paced nonprofit environment, and excited about the momentum building in Downtown Lorain. This is a hands-on role that will have a direct and visible impact on the neighborhood. Social Media & Marketing Manage and grow Main Street Lorain's social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant platforms Create engaging content — graphics, photos, short-form video, copy — that promotes events, businesses, and Downtown Lorain Monitor social media analytics and provide regular performance reports to the Executive Director Maintain and update DowntownLorain.com with current events, business listings, and relevant information for residents & visitors Develop and send email newsletters and campaign communications to partners, subscribers, and stakeholders Event Planning & Coordination Assist in the planning, logistics, and execution of Main Street Lorain's full event calendar, including the Monster Mash Dash, Cookie Crawl, Second Saturdays, St. Paddy's Day Pub Crawl, Brunch on Broadway, Sunset Soiree, Shakespeare in the Park, Lorain Cocktail Week, and more. Work alongside Main Street Lorain volunteer committee to ensure event tasks are completed in a timely manner Coordinate vendor relationships, volunteer recruitment, event permits, and day-of logistics Develop and manage event promotional timelines and marketing materials Track and report on event attendance, business impact, and community feedback Support sponsorship fulfillment by ensuring sponsor benefits are delivered as agreed Organizational Support Collaborate closely with the Executive Director & volunteer committee members Assist with grant reporting as it relates to marketing and event metrics Represent Main Street Lorain professionally at public and community events, including some evenings and weekends
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, event coordination Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with social media platforms and scheduling/analytics tools Ability to create visually appealing graphics using tools such as Canva or Adobe Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Positive, community-oriented attitude and a passion for Downtown Lorain Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events Preferred Experience working in a nonprofit, community development, or municipal organization Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, SalesForce, or similar platforms) Experience with paid social media advertising (Facebook/Instagram Ads Manager) Knowledge of Downtown Lorain, its businesses, and the local community Experience with Squarespace website platform
