Job Description

Version-X | Bend, OR Part-time / flexible structure Hybrid or Remote for the right candidate Hourly base + commission on closed work Version-X is a small, senior-level creative agency that helps growth-stage brands and busy marketing teams with brand strategy, identity, packaging, web design, campaign creative, and ongoing creative support. Through our sister company, Next Studios, we also offer photo and video content creation for brands that need high-quality, effective creative assets from people who know how to tell a brand's story. We're looking for someone who can help us create new client relationships and bring in the right kinds of projects. This is not a high-volume cold-calling role, and it is not a role for someone who thinks "activity" is the same thing as results. We need a thoughtful, genuine, proactive person who can understand what we do, identify strong-fit opportunities, start meaningful conversations, and help move qualified prospects toward real projects. The right person is likable, confident, self-directed, and comfortable talking about the value of brand leadership, design, packaging, and consistent high quality creative services. You do not need to be a traditional agency salesperson, but you do need to be able to build trust, create interest, qualify opportunities, and help close work. What you'll do You'll help Version-X grow by identifying, developing, and helping close new client opportunities with brands and teams that are a strong fit for our work.
Responsibilities may include:
Researching and identifying strong-fit prospects across industries such as beauty, wellness, food, CPG, lifestyle, D2C, B2B, and growth-stage brands Building and maintaining a simple lead tracking system or CRM process Creating thoughtful outreach through email, LinkedIn, referrals, and relationship-building Developing relationships with marketing directors, brand managers, founders, in-house creative teams, agencies, and web/dev partners Introducing Version-X and Next Studios in a clear, compelling, and non-pushy way Qualifying opportunities based on budget, fit, project type, timing, and level of need Leading early conversations before bringing in agency leadership for vetted project discussions Helping with follow-up, proposal coordination, and closing conversations Supporting self-promotion efforts and agency visibility Potentially helping manage projects or client relationships you bring in For a local candidate, there is the opportunity to help support overall agency operations and office coordination as needed What we're looking for We're looking for someone who is equal parts connector, communicator, and creative business thinker.
A strong candidate will have:
A genuine, outgoing personality without being aggressive or overly salesy Good instincts around brands, design, marketing, and creative work Comfort discussing services like brand strategy, positioning, story, visual identity, packaging, web design, content creation, photo/video, and creative support The ability to understand what makes a prospective client a good fit Strong written and verbal communication skills Confidence starting conversations and following up without feeling spammy The ability to build trust with founders, marketing leaders, brand teams, and agency partners Enough organization to manage leads, follow-ups, and opportunity tracking A proactive mindset and the ability to work without constant direction Familiarity with some type of CRM, sales pipeline, or lead tracking process An interest in helping a small, talented agency with lots of potential to grow Prior agency experience is helpful, but not required. We're also open to candidates with experience in marketing, creative services, CPG, partnerships, nonprofit fundraising, events, hospitality, real estate, or other relationship-driven fields. What this role is not This is not a role for someone who wants to blast generic cold emails, book weak meetings, or pitch low-value production work. We are not looking for someone to generate noise. We are looking for someone who can help create real opportunities with clients who value thoughtful, high caliber brand and creative work. You should be comfortable being measured by meaningful outcomes, not just outreach volume. Good-fit opportunities usually look like Brand, packaging, web, campaign, or creative support projects Smaller foot-in-the-door project budgets of $10k-$30k+ Larger brand, web, or creative engagements in the $30k-$100k+ range Ongoing creative support or retainer relationships Marketing teams that are overloaded and need senior creative support Brands that care about quality, positioning, and execution Agencies or development partners who need a strong brand/design partner We generally avoid low-budget, highly cost-centric opportunities where the client does not place a high value on brand, creative, or strategic thinking. Compensation This role is designed to start as a flexible part-time position with a modest hourly base plus commission or performance bonuses tied to closed work, though model is flexible. Compensation structure to be discussed based on experience and fit.
A likely structure may include:
Part-time hourly base Commission or success bonus on closed projects Opportunity for increased hours, compensation, and responsibility as the role proves successful We are a lean small agency, so this is best suited for someone entrepreneurial who values flexibility, upside, and the chance to help shape a growth role rather than someone looking for a big guaranteed money from day one. Schedule and location Part-time, likely around 10-30 hours per week to start Flexible schedule, with availability during normal business hours Bend/Central Oregon preferred, especially if interested in agency operations support Hybrid or remote considered for the right candidate No major travel expectations, though occasional networking, events, or client meetings may be helpful About Version-X Version-X is a brand and creative agency based in Bend, Oregon, serving clients locally, nationally, and internationally. We work with brands and marketing teams that need senior-level creative thinking, strong visual execution, and a partner who can help make their brand show up better. Our work spans brand strategy, identity systems, packaging, web design, campaigns, sales materials, and ongoing creative support. Through Next Studios, we also help brands create photo, video, product, lifestyle, and launch content. What types of brands or businesses do you think Version-X would be a strong fit for, and why? How would you approach outreach in a way that feels genuine rather than salesy?
