Assistant Director, Events

As a member of the Donor Experience & Engagement team, this position is responsible for implementing a comprehensive and robust portfolio of recognition, stewardship, and cultivation events. Accountable for executing all projects within budget and on time, the Assistant Director will collaborate with Dana-Farber's faculty and leadership, develop compelling event programs, secure the best value from vendors, identify process efficiencies, collaborate with departments across Dana-Farber, and ensure alignment with policies and standards. This position is responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. Reports to the Associate Director, Events, Donor Experience & Engagement. This position's work location is fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA. The selected candidate may only work remotely from a New England state (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI). PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a portfolio of high-profile recognition, stewardship, and cultivation events (in-person and virtual): Supervision of event goals, catering, audio/visual, marketing materials, volunteer management, event programming, donor gifts; Lead all event planning meetings and drive discussions to meet event goals; Coordinate briefing materials for the President, Senior Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer, senior management, faculty, and Philanthropy staff; Work with vendors to obtain best prices and services; Prepare and monitor budgets for all events in portfolio; Prepare event evaluation, follow-up materials, and reporting as required; Participate in the strategic planning process related to new event concepts, and clearly and effectively present these concepts to leadership; Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, external vendors and all event partners; Work with leadership to ensure all unit and Division fundraising goals are accomplished through the execution of each event; Create and oversee the implementation of project management tools to aid in successful event planning; Seek to innovate and evolve the team's events capabilities. Coordinate event volunteers and works collaboratively with Philanthropy staff, as well as members of Dana-Farber's senior leadership and other departments.

Strong ability to plan strategically as it relates to stewarding, cultivating, and recognizing major donors and prospects through events; Strong people and project management skills; Sharp attention to detail and ability to review and edit materials; Exceptional organizational skills and ability to assess and correct processes and procedures; Effective in working with wide audiences, including highest level of Dana-Farber constituencies; Strong sense of customer service; Clear commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity; Mission-driven, desire to help meet the goals of the Division of Philanthropy.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required plus 4+ years of relevant work experience. Event planning, philanthropy and donor/volunteer management experience preferred . For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $95,900.00 - $114,600.00
