ABOUT HISTORIC ANNAPOLIS
We are the leading nonprofit preservation and history organization in Annapolis, Maryland, responsible for stewarding 13 historic properties including National Historic Landmarks. As we're deep into America's semiquincentennial celebrations and with HA's 75th anniversary next year, and the planned reopening of the James Brice House coming too, this is an exciting time to join our team! HA offers a competitive benefits package, including medical and retirement benefits. This position is primarily in-person at our offices in Annapolis, with some remote work flexibility possible. Some travel may be required for events or community networking opportunities. Summary Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Associate provides support for all fundraising and development operations and outreach for Historic Annapolis (HA). Responsibilities Provide administrative support for development activities, supporting goals in donor engagement, solicitation, and stewardship (includes individual gifts, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, and grants) Maintain and input donor information into the fundraising software Altru on a daily basis; enter and batch all gifts and pledges and produce acknowledgement letters; produce monthly membership renewal notices Support donor prospect management efforts by documenting cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and relationship with HA in the database Generate gift and donor reports on a regular and as-needed basis Draft and/or contribute to donor communications and correspondence, including direct mail, electronic solicitations, impact reports, and more Ensure donor records are up to date with current contact information Conduct research on prospective individuals, foundation and corporate donors Assist with planning and executing donor cultivation and stewardship events, major fundraisers, and other events Support corporate sponsorship efforts, including special events sponsorships Manage mailings for the development department including pulling data files, coordination with mail house, facilitating in-house mailings, and coordinating fulfillment of donor stewardship collateral Prepare presentations and reports in support of Board and Committee meetings, and as needed Coordinate meetings for Senior Development team members and manage calendars as needed; coordinate materials and set up Maintain confidentiality of donor information and HA records Qualifications Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred Two or more years of experience in fundraising, nonprofit administration, database management, or a related field Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission and philosophy of Historic Annapolis. Excellent customer service philosophy and skills required. High degree of proficiency in working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with a customer relationship management (CRM) software, preferably Blackbaud, a plus. Superior communication and organization skills, and detail oriented. Ability to perform multiple tasks at once with exceptional attention to detail. Willingness and ability to function as a team player, including working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of Historic Annapolis. Additional Job Requirements/Information The work environment will fluctuate between an office setting to meetings outside of the office and outdoor events. The job is not incredibly physically demanding, but the candidate may need to be on his or her feet during events.
