Funded by a US Dept of Education grant, the Lancaster Promise Neighborhood Marketing and Communications Coordinator duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, being responsible for development of all program materials, media campaign, general promotion and assistance with outreach strategies as well as the following:
MARKETING DUTIES
- Performs professional duties designed specifically to promote the Lancaster Promise Neighborhood project through creative marketing strategies in order to meet the publicity goals established by the Promise Neighborhood Advisory Board.
- Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and inspire.
- The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is directly accountable to the Program Director and is a full-time employee.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Works as a member of Promise Neighborhood steering committee meeting on a regular basis as established by the Promise Neighborhood Advisory Committee to ensure on-going communication and coordination Provides graphic design skills in the development of digital ads, print ads, posters, and publications when needed; Undertakes photography and video work tasks needed, when possible, including photographing events, activities, and programs; photo and video editing; and establishing a system of archiving for all photos and video that might be used in future marketing and promotion; Manages all major social media platforms for Promise Neighborhood. Manages social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn on a schedule approved by the Promise Neighborhood Project Director with input from the event and program organizers. Collects content used for social media posting on a daily basis including pictures, video, testimonials, etc. Assist with donor management software data entry, monitoring, and fund development activities. Communicates with marketing related stakeholders on a regular basis updating parties on the status of marketing related activities and initiatives; Develops and maintains working relationships with businesses and organizations in Lancaster County; Schedules and occasionally participates in live media interviews associated with the marketing of Promise Neighborhood events, programs and activities, and other programs and events that are incorporated into the program's promotional initiatives; Writes, edits and distributes press releases promoting Promise Neighborhood activities, programs and events; Identifies social media and website trends and insights and optimizes performance based on data collected. Conducts social media and other marketing workshops for staff and partner agencies. Stays current with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement. Assists with web maintenance and design when deemed necessary. Assists with event planning and preparation as well as day of event execution.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tasks require oral and written communication skills as well as an active background in graphic skills, marketing principles, practices and procedures, interpersonal communication skills, social media procedures, principals and attributes, and a strong proficiency in computer skills and desktop publishing and graphic software.
- Skills in photography and videography is required. Solid knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Corel and/or other media editing software. Familiarity with web design and content management systems.
- Excellent analytical and project management skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience with a variety of communication technologies including online formats and social media.
- Commitment to the goals, values, and approach of Lancaster Promise Neighborhood.
- Knowledge and familiarity of the community, comfort in working in various neighborhood settings with diverse populations
- Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Background check will be conducted.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in communications, public or community relations work; marketing or related field, with a preferred equivalent combination of five (5) years of minimum experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
OTHER REQUISITES
From time to time the incumbent may be assigned special duties by a superior or, on a temporary basis, may be asked to assist other employees occupying a different position. Overtime work will be required on occasion.
