Position Summary The Sales Manager (Small Groups) is responsible for generating and closing new group business for programs requiring up to 45 rooms on peak. This role focuses primarily on corporate, association, social, government, military, education, religious, fraternity, and sports-related groups. This is a dedicated sales position responsible for prospecting, soliciting, qualifying leads, conducting site visits, negotiating contracts, and securing definite business. Once a group is contracted, the Sales Manager will transition the account to the Events Team for planning and execution. The ideal candidate is a proactive salesperson who enjoys building a pipeline, creating new opportunities, and consistently exceeding revenue goals. Sales & Business Development Qualify and close inbound and outbound group opportunities requiring up to 45 rooms on peak. Proactively hunt for new business and maintain a strong pipeline of group prospects. Expertly negotiate contracts to maximize revenue, focusing on room rates, attrition clauses, and food and beverage minimums. Represent the resort at industry trade shows and networking events, displaying high energy and professionalism to capture prospective clients. Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to ensure Perdido Beach Resort remains the top choice for small groups in the region. Utilize CRM software to accurately track sales activities, maintain pipeline visibility, and report on goal progress.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years of resort sales experience, with a proven track record in the group market.
Booking Focus:
Must be a proactive hunter proficient in closing sales and negotiating contracts, with a clear understanding of the transition to event planning.
Digital Proficiency:
Strong working knowledge of resort sales CRM systems and lead generation platforms.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are non-negotiable. You must be able to pitch effectively and build immediate rapport with decision makers.
Marriott Experience:
Previous experience with Marriott systems or sales training is a significant plus.
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred, but relevant experience and proven sales talent will be considered.
Availability:
Must be willing to travel for trade shows and work flexible hours as required by client needs and site tours.
