Job Description

NOTE:
This position requires hotel sales experience in order to be considered. AC Hotel & Element Phoenix/Scottsdale City North Opening December 2026 | Phoenix, AZ If you've ever said "I wish I could build a hotel from the ground up instead of inheriting someone else's mess," this is your moment! We're opening a dual-branded AC Hotels by Marriott/Element Hotels property in one of Phoenix's most dynamic corridors—and we're looking for a Director of Sales & Marketing who knows how to drive revenue, build strategy, and lead from the front. This isn't a maintenance role. This is a build-it, scale-it, dominate-your-market role.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
  • Lead all sales & marketing strategy for a new dual-branded hotel: + AC Hotel (142 keys) + Element Hotel (98 keys)
  • Drive revenue across group, corporate, and extended stay segments
  • Activate and sell 3,300 sq ft of meeting space + outdoor event patio
  • Build the hotel's account base from zero
  • Create and execute sales & marketing plans that actually convert
  • Develop SOPs, deployment strategies, and performance frameworks
  • Build, hire, and lead a winning sales team from the ground up
  • Coach and hold the team accountable to clear activity, production, and revenue goals
  • Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, and results (not excuses)
  • Partner with Revenue, Marketing, and Operations to maximize profitability
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Minimum 3+ years as a Director of Sales
  • Marriott experience required (you already speak the language)
  • Strong working knowledge of CI/TY
  • Proven ability to prospect, close, and grow new business
  • Experience leading teams to consistently hit and exceed revenue goals
  • Ability to build structure: +SOPs +deployment strategies +revenue-focused action plans
  • Opening or ramp-up experience strongly preferred
  • Phoenix/Scottsdale market knowledge = big plus
WHO YOU ARE
  • Aggressive in the right way—you go after business, you don't wait for it
  • A true player-coach who can sell and lead at the same time
  • Strategic, but not allergic to execution
  • Comfortable being accountable for results (rare skill these days)
  • A leader who builds teams people actually want to be on—and performs
  • The person others look to when things need to actually get done
THE OPPORTUNITY
  • Be part of the opening leadership team
  • Build and shape a high-performing sales team and culture from day one
  • Own the commercial strategy and results
  • Create something you can point to and say, "I built that" If you're the kind of DOSM who's tired of babysitting legacy business and ready to build, lead, and win, this is your shot.
